This week watching Jason's unfortunate song choice on American Idol ("Memory"...yikes), I was really worried that he'd have to go home. I realized that even thought I really don't believe he has any chance to win this thing, that I am really going to miss seeing him perform when he leaves. I just love the way he delivers the songs...he doesn't have a "big" voice, but he's genuine and it seems like he truly feels the power of the lyrics. Regardless, he's pretty easy on the eyes.
I hear he was pretty sick this week, and that may have affected the performance of his song on Tuesday. He didn't like it, either. He didn't want to have to sing it again on Wednesday, so he was obviously very relieved that he wasn't in the bottom two. Carly said, in her exit interview, that when he was declared safe, he whispered in her ear that he was so relieved he didn't have to sing again.
I've downloaded most of Jason's songs from itunes, but didn't think I'd do "Memory". I found this video compilation with the studio version, and it's really good. Looks like I'm going to have to buy it, too. It's waaaayyyy better than the live performance.

ReplyDeleteI thought Jason was interesting in the beginning, but I got over that goofy, awkward thing he had going on when he was basically disrespectful to Sir Andrew. He didn't even know who Sir Andrew is! Someone who is 20 and serious about their music knows and studies all types of music. Look at how well 17 year old David pulled it off, so it's not an age thing.
Take away the dreadlocks, and you have a goofy looking kid who lives in his parents' basement singing in the mirror while lip syncing to Miley Cyrus.
Michael Johns would have nailed Sir Andrew and any other genre.
Hmmmm...I sound hostile! I just really think Jason needs to go and let the two Davids' vie for first and second place.
Oh my goodness, well I had to say that I think this song and this version done by Jason is amazingly beautiful. I have tears in my eyes as I listen to it!
