American Idol Final 3 (and a little Jason Castro)

For someone who never watched a reality show until this season, I can't believe I keep posting about American Idol. J and I watched tonight's show, and I must say I was missing my boy Jason. Not that I think he should have been there, I just liked watching him sing.

Anyway, tonight they sang three songs each, one chosen by one of the judges, one chosen by the finalist, and one chosen by the producers. David Archuleta reached this week, and finally picked a more contemporary song..."With You" by Chris Brown. H was upstairs studying for exams and when he started singing, she yelled..."Oh no, he didn't!" and came running down to watch (and dance). His other songs were more typical for him, but judging by the teenager in my house, he'll definitely get that demographic's votes. Syesha looked amazing, and 'broadwayed' her way through her three songs. I personally liked "Fever", but the judges didn't. And David Cook, who definitely needs to win this thing, showed his range with three very different songs. Simon picked Roberta Flack's "The First time Ever I Saw Your Face"...and he actually sounded great. My favorite was "Dare You to Move", but he also nailed Aerosmith's "I don't want to miss a thing".

Obviously, they're all incredibly talented, and will go on to have successful careers no matter what happens. For that matter, I still hope Jason records some music.

And to help with the withdrawal symptoms, here's Jason performing "Daydream" on the Ellen Degeneres show:

  1. I suppose Castro is the first contestant in the history of American Idol to ever play an instrument on the American Idol stage
